High Broom, Crowborough, Sussex
Barnardo's High Broom home on High Broom Road at Stone Cross, near Crowborough, was opened in June 1940 as an wartime evacuation centre for girls. It continued in use after the war as a long-term girls' home then became a mixed home from November 1953.
The home was closed in 1980. The building is now a care home for the elderly.
