MABYS Association Home, Highgate, London
By 1897, the Metropolitan Association for Befriending Young Servants (MABYS) had opened a lodging home for 'lodging home for girls out of place' at 41 St John's Villas, Upper Holloway, Highgate, London N19. It accommodated girls aged 14 to 20 who were 'of respectable character in or needing employment.'
Records
Note: many repositories impose a closure period of up to 100 years for records identifying individuals. Before travelling a long distance, always check that the records you want to consult will be available.
- Fairly few records relating to MABYS appear to survive. Try using the National Archives Discovery system to search for either "Metropolitan Association For Befriending Young Servants" or "MABYS Association".
