The Home, Shoreditch, London

The Home was founded in 1888 by Miss Meiggs and Miss N. Meiggs and occupied premises at 31 Windsor Terrace, City Road, Shoreditch, London N1. The establishment provided a home for girls over the age of 14 years, and resident within the parish of St Mary's, Hoxton, where they were fed, clothed, lodged, and instructed in domestic service, without charge. A few girls who were employed during the day could also be lodged upon payment of a small fee.
