St Joseph's Children's Convalescent Home / Spastics' Hospital, Formby, Lancashire
A sanatorium for the treatment of children with tuberculosis was opened in 1915 in Formby, at the western end of Blundell Avenue, Freshfield.
By the mid-1930s, the site had become St Joseph's Children's Convalescent Home.
By the early 1960s, the home was providing care for children with mental and physical disabilities, what were then referred to as "spastics".
