Horham Hall, Thaxted, Essex
At the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, sixteenth-century Horham Hall near Thaxted in Essex became a Barnardo's evacuation centre for girls and young children.

The home closed in 1945. Although now a private residence, the hall opens its doors for group and special visits.
